Little Fires Everywhere

I am a sucker for reading something before it hits the screen, so when I heard Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng was being made into a show on Hulu, I immediately ordered it. We all know my to read list is crazy long, but I prioritized this one so I could finish it before the show starts!

I really liked the book, and am now so so excited for the show! I will admit, there were many times during this story I was very confused, it jumps around a lot. Sometimes the same paragraph are about two separate people and separate thoughts. Once I got used to it, it was tolerable… but it did make not reading for a few days hard. I would start a new chapter and had a lot of trouble remembering where or when I was in the story!

I feel like it took me a while to actually figure out what this story was about… there are a lot of characters and a lot of story lines, and I wasn’t sure where to focus my attention! Once it all started falling together though, it was an awesome book!

Mia and her daughter Pearl have never stayed in one place long. When they arrive in a new town in Ohio, they both believe they may have found their place! They meet the Richardson’s, which give them a place to live and Mia a job. Pearl becomes friends with their kids, and she is finally starting to feel like she belongs somewhere.

Mrs. Richardson starts to question somethings about their past, and it may change the way she feels about them both. The book is great, I definitley recommend it! I hope the show is just as good! You can find it on Amazon here.

Love Is Blind

If you’ve been on the internet at all in the last few weeks, I am sure you have heard of Love is Blind on Netflix! I feel like everyone is watching it, and I wanted to be able to join the conversation!

It is a new reality show, and Netflix released an episode a week. I am not about that on Netflix, so of course I waited until it was over! The show allows the contestants to date, without being able to see each other, to test if love can be blind.

They do not allow much time, I believe 10 days. They date people in the pods, where they are able to hear each other, but cannot see each other. They have conversations and make connections, but have no idea what the other person looks like.

Within the first 20 minutes, I am pretty sure I thought to myself “I can’t believe I am watching this…”. But I couldn’t stop watching! I had to know how it was going to end!

It was entertaining for sure, not great… but not terrible! I am not normally one for reality TV, but this one sucked me in!

Home With You

Allie Everhart newest book released today! This book does not disappoint! It is such a good story!

I really enjoyed this book! The story is as good as all of her books, I could not put it down! I stayed up way too late and just had to keep reading! This story seems different than anything she has written before!

Raine is at a tough point in her life, and is currently homeless. She knows she needs to improve her situation, and is trying to get out of this situation on her own. She meets Miles, who has some struggles of his own. He wants to help her, she is not sure if she can trust him.

I definitely recommend this book, and of course all books by Allie Everhart! All of her books are amazing! This one is currently included with Kindle Unlimited! You can find it here on Amazon.

To All the Boys P.S. I Still Love You

To All the Boys P.S. I Still Love You released on Netflix today! This is a movie I have been waiting for, so I had to watch this today! It was everything I was hoping and dreaming for!

Yes, I realize how dramatic that sounds… but I really needed this movie to be amazing! On the heels of a disappointing book series, I could not handle this movie being disappointing. And it is not!

So so good! Maybe even better than the first?! They are slightly off on the book timelines, but I am okay with that. This movie makes me want to read the books and watch the movies over and over again. I laughed and (ugly) cried and I felt with this movie.

The third movie is happening… not sure when yet but Netflix will likely make me wait a year. I am so excited to see where this story goes!

Read the books and watch the movies!! All of them are so good!

Twisted Pines Academy series

I just finished reading the Twisted Pines Academy book series by Kai Juniper. There are four books in total: Twisted Lies, Twisted Sins, Twisted Secrets and Twisted Truths.

I found these book when one of my favorite authors announced she wrote these and released under a different name. I was so excited, because I am excited by every one of her book releases! I was confused why she released under a new name, but quickly purchased the first book.

I finished reading the whole series, and I kind of wish I did not know the actual author, because it kind of makes me disappointed with these books. They were good… not great. Some of the story lines felt rushed; characters seem to show up when the story needed it and not any other time. Made the relationships seem forced and not authentic.

I don’t know why the new name, she claimed these books have more cursing, sex and violence. But I don’t think there was any more or less than her other books. I do have high expectations for her books, because I have loved every single one and have never been disappointed. But these books are different than her others, and I just did not love them.

The books are about a young girl who loses her mom, and is sent to live with an uncle across the country. Her whole life is being turned upside down, she has so much to adjust to as is, but quickly learns her new life is going to be very different than her old life. She is now exposed to extremely wealthy people, private school and some potentially dangerous people. She is faced with many challenges, and home and school. Her cousins are not accepting and her classmates do not think she belongs.

The books are included with Kindle Unlimited, so I think worth reading for free. The story is good, I just wish some of the characters had deeper story lines and more authentic relationships. These books did not make me feel, if that makes sense. It is a story I read and enjoyed, but nothing more.

First book can be found here on Amazon.

1917

Hubs and I went to see 1917. I really enjoyed it! It was a good story, and made very well!

The movie is set durning World War I, two soldiers are given a very important task. They need to deliver an important message, and they need to cross enemy lines to do it. They do not have much time, and if they do not make it in time, lives could be lost.

The movie opened on the two soldiers, and followed them for the rest of the movie. It was very interesting, and I think a very cool feature.

It was a good movie, hubs and I both enjoyed it! It is a war movie, so some very sad moments.

The Kensington Series

I just finished reading the Kensington Series by Allie Everhart. This series includes four books: Needing Her, Keeping Her, Protecting Her, and Only Her. It is kind of a follow up series to the Jade Series (check out this post ). The Jade Series is about Jade and Garret – and the Kensington Series is about Garret’s parents. You don’t have to read it to read this one, but there are definitely some of the same characters!

Garret and Jade were put through a lot of tests, and in this series we learn that his parents, Pearce and Rachel went through some similar things. In the Jade series, Pearce is a businessman and very serious, but occasionally did some surprising things. This series kind of opens the door to why he did some of those surprising things! We get to see a whole different side to him.

The wealthy people live very different lives than most of us, and sometimes it is hard to fit in… or be accepted. When Pearce falls for Rachel, he knows his parents will not approve, but he can’t help himself. He tries to protect her from them as long as he can, but they run into more than one road block along the way!

The Jade Series is my favorite, and I have read it several times. I think this is only second time I read this one, and I really enjoy it too! I forget this one is just as good! Allie Everhart’s website shares some info about the series, and you can find it on Amazon here.

The Dropout

Boomhauer had his second surgery last week, so Rusty and I are back to walking every morning (even in 40 degree weather!) which means on I am all about the podcasts right now!

The Dropout was recommended to me a while back. I added it to my list, but that is about all I did! I am glad I finally listened, because I really liked it! It is short, only six episodes. Very informative, but it is still an ongoing situation so there could still be more episodes or just more to learn in the future.

A young girl drops out of Stanford to create a new product and a multi million dollar company… Her product is supposed to be able to run hundreds of test from a prick of blood. I sort of work in the medical field so I see the value in a product like this, the potential is definitely there!

It is a good story, she was so young and was able to bring over so many people from major companies to join her in her efforts. She was very concerned with image, probably more so than her product. I hope new episodes become available as the story continues to unfold!

Bad Boys for Life

Hubs and I watched the new Bad Boys movie. I really wanted to watch the previous movies again before going to see it, but we never got around to it. It has been a while, the original came out in 1995, the second in 2003.

This one was great! I really liked it. It kept to the original theme, but added in nee characters and story lines at the same time. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence together again, and it was everything I expected! I have always enjoyed their characters, and they did not disappoint!

Martin Lawrence’s character just became a grandparent, and he’s ready to retire. Will Smith is still living the dream, loving his life. When someone starts coming after those close to them, the Bad Boys come together!

Sweetheart

I watched a new movie on Netflix. I don’t think it is a Netflix original, but I am not sure! I guess it is technically a horror film… but really had no idea going in!

Hubs told me about it, said a about a girl stranded on an island. So I am thinking its a survival type story. Which it is, but there is more to it than that!

Once night falls, she realizes she is not alone on the island. She uses what she has to keep herself safe, but does not have a lot to work with.

It is a good movie, did have a few parts that made me jump! I don’t love horror movies, but I don’t hate them either! Its definitely worth watching if you like these type of movies!
